RESOLUTION

We support the endeavour of the Committee to let the above Council be established through a legislation of Parliament. As a Member of Parliament, we request you to provide support to our move. As also member of the Consultative Committee for the Union Ministry of Agriculture, we are confident that you would be able to provide necessary support to this endeavour. The Action Committee is unanimous in requesting you to provide leadership in moving any such legislation in the Lok Sabha. The passage of an Act which could eventually establish the Indian Council of Veterinary and Fisheries Research would be a historical landmark remembered not only by us professional but to the practitioners and stakeholders of entire livestock sector of the country. The sector is one of the most crucial mean of ensuring livelihood security for landed and non-landed people and role of productivity enhancement, quality improvement and market accessibility of these primary producers, is severely needed. Concerted and dedicated policy support to livestock production measures in Haryana is having a most dramatic effect in income generation in rural hinterland of Haryana. Progressive measures of Haryana, therefore, needed to be understood through a properly funded institution. We also request your goodself to let the Draft of the Legislation emphasise upon establishment of a Central University in each region of the country. States where such universities have yet not been established could take lead, taking a cue from the criteria adopted for establishment of Central Universities by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.
